Getting to New New York

Planes

New York City is served by three airports, two in the borough of Queens and one in New Jersey. They are all run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In all three airports, ground transportation and information booths are located on the baggage-claim level. Plan to arrive at the airport at least two hours before flight departure time for domestic flights and three hours ahead for international flights. Due to increased security measures, it takes longer to get through airline security checkpoints.


JOHN F.KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (JFK)
in Queens, 15mi southeast of Midtown Manhattan (allow Ihr driving time). 718-244-4444. www.panynj.gov. Most international flights arrive and depart from Kennedy. Airport information counters are located in all terminals. Departing passengers should allow themselves the maximum amount of time recommended by their airline. Restaurants with sit-down service are located in all terminals. Most modes of transportation depart outside each terminal (opposite). A 24hr full-service medical clinic is located in Cargo Area C.


LAGUARDIA AIRPORT (LGA)
In Queens, 8mi northeast of Midtown Manhattan (allow 30min driving time). ® 718-533-3400. www.panynj.gov. LaGuardia is serviced by most domestic and North American air carriers. The airport information counter is located between concourses C and D on the departure level. Restaurants with sit-down service are located in the USAir and Delta terminals (free shuttle service available). Most modes of transportatior depart outside each terminal (opposite).


NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (EWR]
In Newark, New Jersey, I6mi southwest of Midtown Manhattan (allow45min driving time). s> 973-961-6000. www.panynj.gov. Many travelers find this airport easier to navigate; flights include both international and domestic air carriers. The airport information counter is located on the lower level of Terminal B. Restaurants with sit-down service are located on the concourse level of all terminals. Intra-airport monorail stations are available at each terminal. Most modes of ground transportation depart outside each terminal (seebelow).
